Description
The Republic of Uzbekistan has a highly developed metallurgical industry, which is based on the richest natural resources. Suffice it to say that Uzbekistan is in fourth place in the world in explored gold reserves and in seventh place in terms of its mining, in seventh place in uranium reserves and in eleventh-twelfth place in the world in copper reserves. The republic also has significant reserves of other metals, including precious and rare-earth metals, such as silver, molybdenum, bismuth, tungsten, lithium, and others. A wide range of mineral resources has been identified on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including about 100 types of mineral raw materials, 60 of which are already used in the national economy.

The current level of mineral exploration is associated with the development of the richest deposits of noble, non-ferrous and rare metals, all types of fossil fuels — oil, natural gas and gas condensate, brown and semi-coking coal, combustible shale, uranium, and many types of raw materials for building materials.
Non-ferrous metallurgy, concentrated mainly in the Angren-Almalyk mining region. This industry includes the production of copper, refractory and heat-resistant metals, gold. The largest enterprise of this industry is the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine. On the basis of tungsten ores and molybdenum, found in the republic, the Uzbek plant of refractory and heat-resistant metals works (Chirchik city).
The available reserves of mineral raw materials for the most part not only provide the existing mining complexes for the long term, but also allow to increase the capacity, re-organize the extraction of a number of the most important minerals - gold, platinum, silver, uranium, copper, lead, molybdenum, tungsten, lithium, phosphates , potassium salts, fluorspar, wollastonite, agrochemical ores, etc.
